Five Precious Opportunities
What a Blessing, it is. People crave for opportunities, while I had mine waiting for my attention. I had been assigned a DIY activity, where five different acts of kindness were to be demonstrated. I tried to utilize every possible opportunity that came my way. A summary of my productivity within 24 hours is shared below.
The day started off with a cup of tea and a cupcake on my plate. However, something was missing. I decided to start the day by being super kind to my mother. All I needed to do was, offer her my ears, attention and the listener in my soul. We sat together and she started the conversation with the quality of sleep she had last night, thankfully, it was peaceful.
At lunch, we made everybody’s favorite daal-chaawal dish! Why not share the meal with our neighbors. This kind act rewarded me with a beautiful smile on Fozia auntie’s face, our neighbor for the past ten years.
It was 11th December, an important day on my calendar! After lunch, I quickly rushed to the mall to buy a soft fragrance for my grandmother, who was totally not anticipating a birthday present. It was a short trip but I am glad that I was able to make it to the shop and also found the fragrance I was looking for.
Our maid arrived late that day. She complained about having a headache but immediately got to her duties. As she approached my room, I thought she deserved a day off, some time to rest, and a little bit peace. I took the mop she was holding, swiftly cleaned the floor and attended to the other parts of the room. The final look was amazing and my maid thanked me for sharing her load.
On my way back from the mall, I saw a lady walking on the road, heavily loaded, looking for a taxi. The road I was driving on was a straight one, for about two kilometers, leading towards a bus stop. I stopped my car near the lady which made her quite suspicious. To this, I cleared the confusion by asking if I could drive her to the bus stop, which was on my way. The lady felt relaxed and responded positively to my offer. We had a fun conversation for about seven minutes, after which the bus stop had arrived. I got a good company, with an opportunity, and as I thought about the day, I felt satisfied, because this was an unusual day with five precious opportunities.
